For this event, you’ll float between two side-by-side arenas throughout the day.
About the Role:
I am seeking a talented and dedicated second shooter to be contracted on needs basis for equine events, specifically Dressage Shows. As a second shooter, you will play a crucial role in capturing high-quality images of riders and their horses, helping us preserve and celebrate the beauty and elegance of their dressage journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Capture photographs of all riders who have pre-signed up for photos in your assigned arena(s) and as many other riders as possible in your arena(s).
- Ability to blend in, shoot from an appropriate distance, and not be an interference for horse or rider, we do not want to affect their ride or score.
- Manage shooting in potentially two arenas simultaneously, ensuring comprehensive coverage.
- Aim to capture 15-20 high-quality keeper photos of each rider, focusing on the ideal moments through different gaits and movements such as piaffe, flying changes, canter pirouettes, and more.
- Prioritize capturing riders on the provided list but also photograph as many additional riders as possible. The more rides you capture, the higher the earning capacity.
- Ensure consistent quality and sharp focus in all photos.
- Adjust white balance settings to maintain consistency across all photos.
- You will be provided with SD/memory cards to use for the event, at the end of the event you will give those back with all images.
- Shoot in RAW format.
- Be prepared to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and stay on your feet throughout the day. This includes having rain protection for yourself and your gear for any rides that happen during light/medium rain storms.
Qualifications:
- Your own camera/lenses and other required photography equipment. Mirrorless or DSLR Camera with 70-200mm lens (or similar).
- Multiple charged batteries and plenty of stamina.
- Proven experience in equine photography with a strong portfolio showcasing your work, ideally with some motion/sports photography experience. Ideal candidate will have experience photographing dressage or other equine events.
- A basic understanding of dressage to help anticipate and capture key moments.
- Proficiency in using professional photography equipment and shooting in manual mode.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and an eye for capturing beautiful and meaningful moments.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable transportation to and from event location.
Compensation:
- $225 per day. This will be paid after the end of the show and I have your photos.
- 20% commission on any sales made (order total after processing fees) from the photos you take. This will be paid as orders come through.
- Payment will be through Venmo, Zelle, or PayPal, your preferred choice.
